Event: The graffiting of a National Lottery billboard. Using white spray paint designed for cars, the original meaning of the billboard was transformed into an advertisement for M.N.K.. It originally said:
IT COULD
BE YOU
THE NATIONAL LOTTERY
It was changed to:
Date: 2.11.94
Location: Cowley Road, Oxford.
Objects taken: small bag, white spray paint, black spray paint, step-ladder.
Transport: by foot.
Participants: HM, AF, and AO. AF painted with HM's assistance. AO kept lookout
Chronology of events:
04:11 HM, AF & AO leave 1 Divinity Road.
04:15 AF & HM place step-ladder against terraced housing and then climb 2.5 metre (approx.) wall onto a ledge next to billboard. AO keeps lookout
04:16 AF starts painting. The words "The National Lottery" are covered with white spray paint
04:20 Car goes by. Work stops momentarily
04:21 AF starts painting again. The letters "MNK" (no full-stops) are painted with black paint over the covered area.
04:23 Painting finished. HM & AF jump from ledge, collect ladder and walk away.
04:29 Arrive back at 1 Divinity Road.
