"The old straight track decided the site of almost every branch of human communal activity, and brings the investigator into contact with many of the -ologys, for he [sic] must follow where the line leads, and like the ball of thread in the legend of Queen Eleanor and Fair Rosamund it leads to all kinds of spots." - Alfred Watkins, 'The Old Straight Track' (1925)

Ley lines are said to be ancient lines of energy which cross the world. When man was closer to nature he built towns, roads and important buildings on them. Places like Stonehenge, St. Paul's Cathedral, the Eygptian Pyramids, and the Greenwich Observatory are found on such lines. For related information on ley lines look at the London Psychogeographical Association and Mage, a homepage designed for mages, but also with information about ley lines.

I became interested in the connection between ley lines and the MNK when the Millennium Circle was first announced in Communication Sheet 16 where they call it a "latter day Stonehenge". At about the same time I came across a book called 'English Leys' by R.C. Domino (about ley lines and their use in occult organisations) that proposed that pagan religious sites (e.g. Stonehenge) were built on ley lines, and that when Christianity came to England these sites where 'neutralised' by the placing of cathedrals and churches on top of them. (That Christians did build churches on top of pagan sites is historically true). Domino continues saying that this is a slight distortion of the truth, because the church "even at that time was run by the Rosicrucians / Illuminati", the cathedrals were built on ley lines to amplify the 'telluric currents' that run along these lines. Domino points to the fact that they are well shaped for the task as amplifiers. If this was the case, if I took a map of the United Kingdom and marked all the cathedrals on to it, then it would be logical to find those sites forming rough lines. This is exactly what I did, and sure enough there were some surprisingly well-defined lines. A version of this map will soon be published on this page. One thing that was very obvious about the map was that there was a concentration of lines crossing just below the Nottingham area. This fascinated me, for in Communication Sheet 16 the centre of the Millennium Circle is specified as... Nottingham! Why, of all places, should the MNK choose Nottingham as the centre for their Circle if it was not for some specific reason? Is it a possibility that the Millennium Circle (which would be indirectly paid for by the National Lottery - another recurring theme in the MNK) may magnify these telluric currents as well? Please write to me if you have any information about ley lines or the occult significance of Nottingham.

The MNK have dabbled in other ways that are related to geography, and therefore possibly ley lines. The MNK Walk is an urban path that leads around Oxford. According to the MNK it reveals "hidden geography", and says that the walk "takes you on just one line through this underworld, but there are many lines to explore". These are not explicit references to ley lines, but the walk is given a 'mystical' quality by the MNK, as if it has more relevance to the traveller than just a normal walk.
